The Day Erin went to Perth

Back in August it was confirmed. Erin would be travelling to Perth at 0610 on the 27th September 2010 as her 10th birthday present from Uncle Colin and Aunty Fi. Erin was extremely excited and it left Adele wondering where they would be living when she turned 10!

Erin researched a bit about Perth but just wanted to hang out and spend time with her Aunt and Uncle more than anything. It was an early start to get to the airport in time to fill out the unaccompanied minor forms but the excitement far out weighed the wake up call. The morning went well and Erin was handed over to the air hostess with no fuss.

While Erin researched what to do in Perth, Adele planned her week. Keeping it all on paper as to what was happening and when. From the airport to breakfast at Amici, around the 'tan', the south Melbourne Market for fruit shopping and lunch, home to play cards, swimming, and then out for tea. I was tired at the thought of packing the day with so much but Adele was adamant it would all happen.

Adele wanted to go to her favourite bakery for breakfast, Amici but time was an issue so she agreed on going to Not all There, a great little coffee shop near Luke's work. After breakfast we dropped Luke at work and headed to the 'tan'. I didn't realise Adele actually wanted to do the run around the tan. Jeans and boots were the wrong attire but not as wrong as the old lady running past in 'undies' and a singlet. After running around the tan we wandered through the gardens looking at the different plants. After 2 hours Adele had had enough and we set off to the market. To realise it's not open Mondays! Adele quickly adjusted the plan. To Coles to get Dad's lunch and some fruit, drop it off and go to Amici for lunch. I didn't know why she wanted to go to Amici so much. She has only been there a couple of times but she was extremely excited about the idea so off we went. Adele directed the waiter in the direction of the tall tables, the same spot we sat for Mothers day 08. She sat and spoke of Mothers Day and Ethan. This is when I realised the significance. Lunch was great and I will always be grateful for Adele bringing back those memories. During lunch I text Uncle Colin to see if he had picked Erin up OK as I hadn't heard anything. Not even a text saying 'the Eagle has landed'.

We then headed home to play cards. I was extremely tired from the 4am start and just wanted to rest but Adele had more energy than ever. We played some cards and then I convinced her to watch a DVD hoping to snooze while we watched but no chance! After the DVD it was off to swimming. She swam well with no sign she had been up for 14hours. After swimming I thought we could convince her to get takeaway and go home but out for tea it was. She finally started to wilt during tea. Home to bed with the plan to go to Inverloch with Nanny Kaye tomorrow.

Narre Warren District Athletics

Ez helped represent Oatlands at the Narre Warren District Athletics carnival on monday.
She had qualified at the school carnival to race the 800m, 1500m and 4x100m relay. She was pretty nervous about participating in this event in the morning, but nerves didn't appear to be a problem during the races.

Pre race
Ez came 1st in the 1500m race first up
The girls ran well in the 4x100

and finally, another 1st in the 800m.

A great effort!  She has now qualified in all 3 events for the South East Zone carnival in October.
