Disneyland
Before we headed up the road to Disneyland we got to enjoy our first Full American breakfast at the Residence Inn. The kids soon learnt how to get the waffles cranking, and they soon became the staple diet for breakfast on the next 4 mornings!
The first day at Disneyland we explored the original Disneyland Park, the one with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy et al. There were the traditional rides like the Mad Tea Party and the Matterhorn, but there were also newer rides like 'Star Tours' a Star Wars themed simulator and the Space Mountain indoor rollercoaster in the dark.
The second day we went to the other Disneyland park, California Adventure Park, with ride highlights being the Tower of Terror, Soarin Over California and the Grizzly River Run. The attention to detail and cleanliness of both the parks was amazing. Disney characters, old and new, were available for photo's everywhere you went.
We had bought a 3 day pass to see both parks and as we had seen most things in 2 days, the third day was used to re-do some of the highlight rides. The Tower of Terror and the Grizzly River Run both got re-runs. The last night saw us farewell Kristen as she caught the shuttle back to LAX and home, but we returned to Disneyland to catch the fireworks. It was tough to get a good spot because of the crowds, but it didn't really matter as the fireworks were pretty cool with the Disneyland Castle being the centrepiece for the night.
Overall, the kids loved Disneyland, and so did we. Would I go back there? Yes. They are constantly adding new rides and building new sections within the Parks. The new Cars Land which was being built when we visited, will be a life sized Radiator Springs like the movie and a must visit from Summer 2012.
